Materials:

- Markers: I used the Crayola pastel washable markers for this craft – this set creates a vibrant pop effect for the flowers.
- Cardstock: Any color cardstock works beautifully for this craft. It’s the ideal choice because it’s sturdy enough to securely hold the flowers and popsicle sticks in place.
- Coffee filters: You likely already have these at home, but if not, they’re easy to find at your local grocery store or Dollar Tree. Be sure to use the basket-style coffee filters for this craft, not the cone-shaped ones.
- Spray bottle: Any empty bottle will work – it’s used to hold water for spraying the flowers. A plastic bottle is ideal, since it’s safer and easier for little hands to handle!
- Tray: This will be used as a base when the flowers are sprayed. It is not necessary for the craft but can help support the flowers – any hard surface will do the trick.
- Scissors: The scissors are only used to cut the coffee filters into flowers – they should only be used by an adult.
- Popsicle sticks: I chose green popsicle sticks since they will be used as the stem of the flowers.
- Glue stick: You likely already have this at home – I find glue sticks are much easier for kids to use than liquid glue.
- Acrylic markers: These are optional; can be used if writing a message on the cardstock.
Instructions:

1. Take the coffee filter and fold it in half.

2. Using the scissors, cut three petals (half circle shaped) into the coffee filter.

3. Unfold the filter to reveal a flower shape.

4. Place the coffee filter onto a hard surface (i.e tray). Next, using the markers, fill the whole coffee filter up with vibrant colors! It will look a tad messy- this is normal.

5. Using the water filled spray bottle, wet the coffee filters so the markers leak into one another. Let dry for a few hours.

6. Once dry, glue the coffee filter flowers onto the cardstock with a glue stick.

7. Using the glue stick, attach the popsicle sticks to the base of each flower to create the stems. Optional: use acrylic markers to write a message on the cardstock if you’re giving it as a gift.

This coffee filter flower craft is a simple and meaningful way to create something beautiful with your little ones. With its vibrant colors and easy steps, it’s a project that kids can feel proud of and parents can cherish. Whether you’re decorating for spring or making a heartfelt gift, these flowers are sure to brighten anyone’s day!
